The Bloody Bathory

This deadly darling, is a combination of two of my favorite lines, the Wicked webs, and the Vampire's kiss. As such, it's named after one of the most well known lady vampires in history, Countess Elizabeth Bathory. Infamous for allegedly kidnapping hundreds of young women, and bathing in their blood to preserve her youth and beauty. Like the Countess herself, this broody bauble is not for the weak, as this is my largest ruby creation to date. Another one of my exquisite Indian blood red rubies, custom made for me, in my favorite rose cut finish, at a whopping 42mm long, by 25mm wide. I also have some slightly smaller gems, in 35mmx22mm, but no less impressive. This is also the first time I've incorporated three different bezels into one piece. Firstly, the delicate sterling silver spider webs, gracefully clasp the ruby, in a lover's embrace. Then, a sturdy rope of twisted squarestock locks everything in, securely. And finally, the dainty beaded edge finishes this design, in a hand blacked outline, to really pop and enhance the design. The back is skeletonized, to let light in, and show you the true magnificence of this gem. A darkly dramatic crystallized blood drop, that slyly winks in the low light. Another new design aspect, a handmade curly heart bail, which replaces the usual Aries loop, to keep this big girl sitting flat on your chest. And more wirewrapped, faceted antique ruby glass, and French jet beads further embellish this ravishing ruby, and finished with an elegant Figaro chain. This piece grabs attention, and refuses to let go.
