The Black Widow

If it wasn't abundantly obvious by now, I grew up fascinated by all of nature's creepiest, deadliest, and most unloved creatures. Most notably, the black widow spider. As a wee sprig of a girl, I had a pet black widow, who lived behind the medicine cabinet in my bathroom. Her name was Red Butt, give me a break, I was 8. XD I would delightedly catch bugs for her outside, and toss them into her web, to watch her eagerly devour them. This passion for the creepier side of nature has persisted, and influenced many facets of my personality. Black Widows produce intricate, and incredibly strong webs, so I immortalized that fact with intricately detailed sterling silver webs, flanking a gloriously blood red, hexagonal garnet, set in dainty floral inspired bezel mount. A delicate, hand-sawed, blackened silver outline traces the webs, inside and out, for a striking contrast to the gleaming mirror finish on the rest. The theme continues onto the band of the ring, with the Widow's most famous feature, the hourglass. Also blackened and highly polished to pop the details, a slender, but exceptionally comfortable shank. I'm obsessed, and love this design, so much.
