Radioactive Rarities: Yummy YAG
$240.00
Today's drop is a bit of an oddball, but to be fair, isn't everything I do? XD I was gifted this very unusual gemstone by a dear friend, it's an Yttrium aluminium garnet, or a YAG, for short, in a gorgeous emerald cut. It's an entirely man made gem, but possesses some highly unsusal properties. For one, its incredibly vibrant canary yellow hue, caused by Titanium. I'm not normally a yellow girl, but I do like this one. For another, it violently glows like Chernobyl under blacklight and UV. A pretty cool note, on the glow, it retains the light for a little while, after Blacklight or UV is switched off. It's also *VERY* sparkly, for those crow-brain minded. XD Like all garnets, it's very tough, being about an 8.5 hardness on the MOHs scale, making it very suitable for everyday wear. Due to the rather incredible look of this stone, I chose simplicity for the setting, a nice sterling silver, meaty claw style prong, on a delicate, and intricately Art Noveau patterned sterling band. Blacked and highly polished, it's all it really needed. ^_^
Artist's note: This style is availabile in both this 10mmx8mm Emerald cut, and an 8mm round brilliant cut. Please choose accordingly, and indicate your preferred ring size in the notes section of your order. ^_^
