Emerald Eden

So, I know I've been doing a lot with ruby this year, I can't help it, it's soooo delicious. I've always considered green a lucky color, not that I'm superstitious. But, I was lucky enough to acquire a small amount of equally luscious emeralds from the same gem cutter who supplies my rubies. Now, as a Taurus, emerald is my birthstone, and you all know I adore a dramatic color moment. Something you might not know about me, is my deep abiding love of plants. The weirder the better, in my opinion. I've had a lifelong love affair with carnivorous plants, and various kinds of vines. This piece shows that love, in great detail. This is another big one, the gem measuring in at 35mmx22mm. Twining vines of fine silver, snake sinuously around the emerald, ensconcing it in a leafy bower. A intricate bezel of curling vine, and blooms hug the gem, like a devoted swain. A hand-sawed outline of antiqued sterling, further enhances the all the glorious details, popping them into high contrast. As always, I've skeletonized the back of the stone, to best highlight the incredible vitreous green color. Another spectacular eye-drawing statement piece, to be sure.
